Project Title  Technical support to forest policy development and National Forest Inventory implementation

Development Objective The valorisation of benefits from Ukrainian forests is increased due to adjusted forest policies and forest management instructions

Project Objectives  Improved forest policies and forest management procedures based on reliable forest information are supported by MENR for countrywide approval

Expected Results 1. Forest policy recommendations and improved normative documents for forest management are endorsed by the technical advisory group on forestry of SFRA and accepted by MENR

2. Preliminary results of the National Forest Inventory are verified and approved by MENR for further dissemination

Target Groups          

Direct target group:     •  Forest policy and senior technical experts within MENR, SFRA and  its subordinate  unit SFMPA,  decision-makers  in  the Verkhovna Rada, scientific institutions and non-governmental organizations related to forestry

Indirect target group:     •  Managers of state forest resources in Ukraine

Political Partners   Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR) and German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL)

Implementation Partners Ukraine State Forest Resource Agency (SFRA) and GFA Consulting Group GmbH

Timeframe  36 months (October 2021 – September 2024)

Project location The project office will be located at SFMPA in Irpin around 20 km outside of Kyiv

German contribution (cash) ~ 640,000 EURO (net)

Ukrainian contribution (cash) ~ 1,000,000 EURO (budget provided for NFI implementation)
