Employees of Ukrderzhlіsproekt, NULES of Ukraine and URIFFM, together with colleagues from the Czech National Forest Institute (NIL) and IFER – Monitoring and Mapping Solutions, worked to strengthen Ukraine’s forest monitoring system and ensure its maximum compatibility with European Union standards.
In particular, the Ukrainian-Czech team worked on:
– a full cycle of office-based data processing in the UkrTax/Field-Map system, using real projects;
– strengthening quality control of field data and ‘planned measures’;
– accounting for areas of the nature reserve fund (NRF) in the office-based part;
– preparation for data export and its integration with the central repository.
– simplification and refinement of the UkrTax interface for maximum convenience for Ukrainian users.
Ukrainian experts also agreed on key areas for further cooperation with their Czech partners.
Implementation of the EUDR Regulation: Development of tools for automated geolocation collection, logging analysis and effective use of satellite data.
Development of UkrTax: Creation of a ‘Forest Allocation’ module and preparation of a comprehensive, process-oriented user manual.
Analysis of NFI using RS: Support for the analysis of national forest inventory data using remote sensing and the construction of national maps of key forest indicators.
Centralisation and web services: Development of QGIS plugins and creation of a central GIS database of Ukrainian forests for automated map creation and data publication in the form of web services. Thanks to these developments, Ukraine’s forest monitoring system is becoming modern, transparent and compatible with European Union standards.
